Educational Objective: Acquiring knowledge about sources and types of threats, measures and procedures for security and protection of state border.

Projected Outcome: Students will be able to understand elements and characteristics of the border, to learn about challenges, risks and threats to its security, and to explain procedures of control and security, risk assessment, forms of international cooperation and ways of integrated border management and suppression of corruption.

Course Contents/Structure

Theoretical education: The concept and elements of the border (shape and extension of the border line, shape coefficient, border zones, border area, geospatial characteristics of the border area); Characteristics of the state border of the Republic of Serbia. The concept and subjects of the state border control. History, organization and jurisdiction of the border police of the Republic of Serbia. Border check. Specificity of carrying out border checks in railway, water and air traffic. Automatic border check. Surveillance and observation of the state border. Methods of illegal crossings outside the border crossing. Technical means for monitoring the state border. Assessment of a threat to the state border security. Collection and processing of data for risk analysis. Early warning system. Operational risk analysis and operational risk analysis during border checks and state border surveillance. International organizations dealing with the issue of border security (FRONTEX) and forms of international cooperation. Integrated border management. The Strategy on Integrated Border Management 2017-2020. Services in the Integrated Border Management System and the presence of corruption. Anticorruption measures.

Practical training: Analysis of the example of good border police practice in controlling and securing the state border.
