Educational Objective: The objective of the course is to familiarize students with databases and basic techniques for designing databases and applications in information systems and setting up queries using the SQL programming language. Solving specific problems using the database management systems such as ORACLE and MS ACCESS.

Projected Outcome: Students are trained to independently design simple databases and applications and set complex queries over multiple tables. Be familiar with managing database systems and Understand new developments and trends in databases.

Subject Contents

Theoretical education: Introduction to database management systems (DBMS); Review and development of databases; Database systems; Data models; Basics of query languages; Queries with calculated values ​​and use of aggregate functions; Action and parameter queries; Design of relational databases. Normalization: 1NF, 2NF, 3NF, Boyce–Codd normal form; Basics of model objects - relations, concept of object, weak objects, connecting objects; Physical design of databases. Database Security Issues.

Practical training: Exercises to develop ontologies and knowledge bases. Practical design of databases and developing database applications using modern software tools will be emphasized.
