Educational Objective: Widening and deepening of previously acquired and acquiring new knowledge, skills and abilities for the proper (effective and efficient) management and research of management of the police (or other security) organizational systems.

Projected Outcome: The ablity of students to perform management functions and roles in teams for management of police organizational systems and their capacity for scientific research in the field of managing these systems.

Course Contents/Structure

Theoretical education: Security and police organizations as organizational systems. Management, managerial functions, managerial roles and specialized management disciplines in the security organizations and police organizations. Organizational behavior, organizational culture and leadership in the police. System approach to management and modern decision theory. Strategic Management and strategic thinking. Business process management, management of projects (actions and interventions) and changes; Management of human resources, knowledge, stress and time; The management of financial and material resources; Managing performances and outputs (outcomes); Quality and integrity; Risk management, organizational crises and conflicts in police organizations. The management of the police in emergency situations and extra-ordinarily states.

Practical training: Analysis and structuring of the police organization. The analysis and the application of organizational culture model and leadership styles within the police organization. Problem solvingby application of modern decision theory. The use of information and graphical tools for solving problems in the field of specialized management disciplines. Study visits, monitoring and analysis of managerial activities in police organizations.

Teaching Methods: Interactive lecture (oral presentation, presentations, conversation - discussions - debates, and heuristic problem solving methods and practical work - written, verbal and graphic expression, case studies and role-playing) in the frontal, group, team and individual form of lecture.
