Learning Objectives: Students are acquiring specific knowledge about the physical and chemical characteristics of polymeric and composite materials, their structure and properties, methods of obtaining and processing modern polymeric and composite materials and the enormous potential of their manufacturing and application, emphasizing the aspect of their forensic applications.

Learning Outcomes: Students gained an excellent background and knowledge in the field of modern polymeric and composite materials and their methods of synthesis, characterization and potential applications in the field of forensic engineering.

Course Overview

The definition, classification and types of polymeric materials; natural polymers; synthetic polymers. Polymer fibers. The application of polymer materials.

The definition, classification and types of composite materials. Polymer composites; metal composites; ceramic composites; special composite materials: carbon composites, hybrid composites, biocomposites, green composites. The application of composite materials.

Teaching Methods: PowerPoint Presentation, In-class Discussion, Research Seminars.
