Educational Objective: Acquiring knowledge on modern models of work of the criminal police, ways of their realization and the effects of their practical application, as well as acquiring skills for successful planning, implementation and evaluation of these models of work.

Projected Outcome: Students' ability to define the characteristics of modern criminal policing models, to identify the key stages in their implementation, to know under what conditions these models give the best results in crime control, and to know the criteria and procedure of evaluating these work models.

Course Contents/Structure

Theoretical education: 1. Organization and operations of the criminal police: functional analysis of the model of criminal police organization; working and educational profile of criminal investigators; human resource management; 2. Methods of criminal-operative work: operational control and operational processing; intelligence research; forms of operational work; 3. Traditional models of criminal police work: model directed towards the potential offender; model directed towards places of criminal offenses; model directed towards potential crime victims; 4. Modern models of criminal police work: community-oriented policing; forms and effects of community policing; problem-oriented policing - SARA model (scanning of the problem; analysis of the problem; response on the problem; impact assessment); zero tolerance policing; intelligence led police: designing the concept and importance of strategic thinking; police intelligence model in Serbia; models of police work in the suppression of domestic violence in Serbia; models of police work in the suppression of domestic violence in certain countries.

Practical training: Analysis of the implementation of criminal police models in Serbia; Analysis of the model of work in developed European and Anglo-Saxon countries.

Teaching Methods: lecture, presentation, case studies.
