Educational Objective: Acquiring knowledge regarding methods and means for crime scene investigation (CSI) and the necessity of cooperation with other subjects participate in CSI.
Projected Outcome: Ability to do crime scene investigation and understanding of the importance of forensic chain of evidence.
Course Contents/Structure Theoretical education: Crime scene as scope frame of criminalistics and criminal proceedings measures and actions. Definition, aims and content of crime scene investigation. Security of a crime scene. Crime scene investigation (definition, aims, legal frame, crime scene subjects and participants). Equipment for CSI (photo-camera, lamps, laser rangefinder, suitcases, etc.) Finding, marking, fixing аnd interpretation of different evidences at the crime scene. Documentation of CSI (reports, photo-documentation, sketch, situational plan, etc.) Necessary technical pre-knowledge for making documentation (coordinate systems, basic elements of technical drawing, projection, quotation, etc.). Specifics of CSI of some criminal acts. Specifics of processing of some evidences at the scene. Practical training: Crime scene investigations in simulation conditions. Case study.
