Educational Objective:

Students acquired knowledge on crime andvarious types of criminal activity, as well as on the characteristics,factors, perpetrators and victims of crime, including particularly contemporary forms of crime.

Projected Outcome:

Students are able to define basic concepts in the field of criminology, and to understand effects of various criminogenic factors, as well as to link theoretical criminological knowledge to real cases from practice.

Course Contents/Structure

Theoretical education: 1.The concepts and types of crime; 2. Criminology - definition, subject, and development; 3. Crime data and statistics; 4. Volume, structure and dynamics of crime; 5. Recidivism; 6. Criminological aspects of homicide and aggravated assault;7. Family violence; 8. Sexual violence; 9. Political violence; 10. Property crime; Professional crime; 11. Trafficking in people; 12. Female crime; 13. Juvenile delinquency; 14. Etiology of criminal behavior; 15. Theoretical explanation of crime.

Practical training: Deepening and testing of acquired knowledge by using case studies.

Teaching Methods: lecture, modified lecture, case studies.
