Educational Objective: Adopting theoretical knowledge and acquiring practical skills for the purposeful use of modern geotopographic materials, devices for orientation and positioning in process of preparation and realization of regular and special police tasks.

Projected Outcome: Capability for safe and fast orientation in complex geotopographic, weather and security conditions, for skillful use of modern geotopographic materials, devices and systems for orientation and positioning in the assessment of the situation, ie the assessment of the impact of favorable and unfavorable geotopographic factors on the choice of engagement and strategic usage of police units.

Course Contents/Structure

Theoretical education: Introduction to police topography; Concept, charateristics, classification and elements of the contents of topographic maps; Measurements on the map; Contemporary geotopographic materials and devices for orientation and positioning of importance for the police; Orientation to land using a topographic map and modern devices and systems for orientation and positioning; Geospatial estimation from the contents of up to date geotopographic materials and geoinformation support for soil analysis in the preparation of execution of police actions and interventions; Graphic official police documents.

Practical training: Introducing characteristics and possibilities of using geotopographic materials for the needs of the police; measurements on the map; tactics and technique of land orientation using a topographic map and a GNSS positioning device in different geospatial, weather and security conditions; basic actions in geoinformation support of land analysis based on products for remote detection; use of topographic knowledge for preparation of official graphic police documents.
