Educational Objective: Adopting the necessary knowledge from general psychology in order to understand criminal behavior in theoretical and practical meaning.

Projected Outcome: Ability to understand and predict criminal behavior and to use certain psychological techniques in police work.

Course Contents/Structure

Theoretical education: Elements of psychology: subject, goal and tasks of psychology; methods and techniques in psychology; observation; learning; opinion; memory and forgetting; emotions; personality; mental disorders; the basis of social psychology. Psychology of crime - General Considerations: Determining and Measuring Criminal Behavior; psychological approaches to the explanation of crime; psychologically aspects of violent crime; mentally disturbed offenders; research into criminals; psychology victimization; psychology in the courtroom; rehabilitation of offenders.

Practical training: Practical considerations: criminal profiling; criminal investigation; psychological aspects polygraphic testing.

Teaching Methods: lecture, modified lecture, presentation.
