Educational Objective: The objective of the course is to enable students to acquire general knowledge in the field of computer networks, and in this context they become familiar with specifics related to principles, protocols and various computer network architectures.

Projected Outcome: Knowledge of the basic concepts, standards and technologies in the field of computer networks, as well as the ability to realize simple communication programs.

Course Contents/Structure

Theoretical education: Historical development and importance of computer networking. Connection elements (network adapters, cables, connectors, wireless communication devices). Network expansion elements (repeaters, hubs, bridges, switches ...). Network operating system. Categorization of computer networks. Network Architecture. Network topology. Network technology. Types of remote accesses. Protocols. Packet data transfer process.

Practical training: Practical classes follow the contents of theoretical lessons.

Teaching Methods: lecture, modified lecture, presentation.
